Have you ever noticed that August is the only month without a widely celebrated holiday? It seems like it s just the leftover month of summer to fill the gap before autumn comes. Of course most of us are still dealing with hot weather and trying to occupy the kids until school starts again. This can be frustrating, so make sure to take the opportunity to get in some more play time while you can. August can be a great month for camping and hiking, as well as fun projects at home. Perhaps giving yourself a goal would help get you through the last bit of summer - like committing to finish a certain number of scrapbook pages before the end of the month. Just think of all you could achieve if you give yourself a goal and a timeline! It s such a great feeling when you look back at the month and can list all of the things you ve accomplished, so don t let the time just slip by without getting some great pages completed! Happy Scrapping! </td> </tr> <tr> <td> &nbsp; </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top"> <a name="2" /> <img src="../common/n2.gif" width="29" height="27" /> </td> <td style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 13px;"> <b>StoryTellers News:</b><br /> <br /> I don t know about you, but I love having ideas to look at when it comes time to put a layout together. You receive 8 basic page ideas in your pack each month, and now we re giving you more. We ve got some great design team members creating <img src="images/sun-layout.jpg" align="right" width="350" height="204" /> fantastic idea cards each month and they ll be using the StoryTellers Ultimate Pack with the extra pattern paper, textured cardstock and embellishments. We ve added two additional Ultimate Pack idea card options. Carol will show you advanced layouts with each of the themes and even give you some written tips and tricks along with directions when needed. Holly and Wendi will do 14 to 16 layouts with each month s pack for those of you who are ready to get a lot of pages tucked away into your albums. They ll also write tips and suggestions along the way. To find these great ideas, just go the StoryTellers main web page and click on StoryTellers Idea Cards on the right hand side. You ll be able to make your choice from there. Yeah, we know it s nothing technical, but it adds such a nice touch to a page. It s easy, and can give you a great place to put a tag with extra journaling, or even another photo. To make a pocket, cut the cardstock just larger than the desired pocket size. Fold the bottom edge about one quarter <img src="images/family_4-nl.jpg" align="left" border="0" width="275" height="226" />to half an inch. Folding the two sides is optional. It does create a little extra bulk so it s up to you. Once the folding is done, inking the edges before adhering to the page adds a nice effect to the pocket. You can even use the pocket as a mat for a picture or journaling. This technique is nothing tricky, but looks really great and it s so easy to add your own embellishments and personal touches to. Sometimes I ll use a die cut piece from my StoryTellers set to make a pocket& .something like a journaling panel. Just put adhesive along the sides and bottom, attach it to your page and tuck a tag in from the top. </td> </tr> </table> <table width="590px"> <tr> <td> &nbsp; </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top"> <a name="4" /> <img src="../common/n4.gif" width="29" height="27" /> </td> <td style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 13px;"> <b>Creative Expressions Workshop:</b><br /> <br /> <img src="images/Final-1.jpg" align="right" width="325" height="245" />Once again, Alayna has amazed us with her astounding creativity!
