Okay, maybe the winter weather is keeping you from feeling those sentimental feelings, but with all of the fun of Valentines, you have no excuse not to share a little loving cheer around to those close to you. Handmade cards, treats oh-so-sweet, and other fun gifts can be a great way to cheer up those around you and even lift your own spirits. Remember, it doesn t take a lot of cash to do any of these things. What matters most is that you re making a thoughtful effort to show you care.

StoryTellers News:

Life at StoryTellers is busy as usual. If you re like most of us, there are always extra photos, video clips, or even music that tell parts of the story that never end up on your pages. The solution? How about making a pocket to hold a CD with all the extra goodies? It s not difficult, and you can even spruce up a CD sleeve instead of making your own. To make your own, start with a piece of card stock that is 5 ½ wide and 12 inches long (we recommend using double-sided cardstock). Along the long edge make a line, the length of the paper, ½ inch in from the edge. Measure 3 ½ inches in from either side, creating two little rectangles to cut out and discard.

This leaves a little flap, ½ inch deep and 5 inches long in the middle of your paper. Cut the corners of the flap at 45° angles. Before using any adhesive, you can use a large circle punch to create a ½ circle at the top of pocket from which you can grab the CD. To do this, find the center of the 5 inches (this should be in the very center of your 12inch length), mark, and punch. You can now fold in the two sides, paste them together, and then fold up and paste the little flap, leaving you with a pocket that is 5x5 inches.

At this point, you can use embellishments to make your CD pocket look just the way you want. Consider using it as a place for another photo, or even a journaling mat. Whatever you decide, you ll have a place to keep all of the memories that didn t make it onto the page!

Creative Expressions Workshop:

January s creative projects are such a great way to do something different with your StoryTellers products. Alayna can come up with three darling ideas for you all to try. First, there s a super-fun Snowman in a Can project using and old oatmeal container. This would make a darling gift, or would be fun for the kids as well. The second project is a framed scrapbook page that would look darling on a shelf or wall in need of something a little extra. Last, but not least, she s come up with a wonderful gift idea to warm up someone in need of a thinking of you gift. Decorating a can of hot chocolate is a wonderful way to bring a smile to someone s face. It d even make a great Valentines gift! Whether you have done the projects in the past or not, January s Creative Expressions Workshop is a great way to think outside the box and have a little creative project time.
