We hope you all had a safe and happy Independence celebration, and had the chance to reflect on what it is we celebrate this month. Our independence from Britain came with a great sacrifice made by many, and the country has been preserved at the cost of many lives. Since this country was founded, America has had many brave soldiers willing to risk their own lives in order to protect the rights and freedoms of others. So, let s not forget all those who have made sacrifices to enable us to live in a land where we enjoy freedoms much of the world is without. We do live in a great country, and it is definitely something worth celebrating! </td> </tr> <tr> <td> &nbsp; </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top"> <a name="2" /> <img src="../common/n2.gif" width="29" height="27" /> </td> <td style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 13px;"> <b>StoryTellers News:</b><br /> <br /> Life here at StoryTellers is busy as usual. Be sure to let us know you re a member so you can get your discount on any purchases. </td> </tr> </table> <table width="590px"> <tr> <td> &nbsp; </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top"> <a name="3" /> <img src="../common/n3.gif" width="29" height="27" /> </td> <td style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 13px;"> <b>Monthly tip of the trade:</b><br /> <br /> <img src="images/Layout2.gif" align="right" border="0" width="300" height="239" /> One fun way to add a little extra to a page is with ribbon. Many of us have extra ribbon scraps we just can t bring ourselves to throw away. Well& pull them out and put them to use. You can use ribbon as a border, a frame, or even just a little decoration. One way we like to use ribbon is to take a small length (about 2 ), fold it in a V, and staple it to the edge of the page. When done with several colors or patterns all together, it makes a cute embellishment that marks a special page in your scrapbook. It also looks great off the side of a photo or journaling you want to draw special attention to. <br /> <br /> Speaking of scrapbooking tips& ..Did you see the word Soaked in the swirly water pattern paper from the July pack? It s about 3 tall and 7 long in the bottom right corner of the paper. I think it would look awesome to accent the word with Diamond Glaze or glitter. </td> </tr> </table> <table width="590px"> <tr> <td> &nbsp; </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top"> <a name="4" /> <img src="../common/n4.gif" width="29" height="27" /> </td> <td style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 13px;"> <b>Creative Expressions Workshop:</b><br /> <br /> Alayna continues to impress with her awesome <a href="http://www.storytellersclub.com/NewsLetter/Tutorials/" target="_blank">Creative Workshop projects</a>. Thomas Jefferson and John Adams (both signers of the Declaration of Independence) died on July 4th 1826, the nation s 50th anniversary. Five years later, James Monroe died on July 4th 1831. <br /> <br /> July was renamed for Julius Caesar, who was born in that month. Previously, it was called Quintilis in Latin, since it was the fifth month in the ancient Roman calendar. <br /> <br /> The Star Spangled Banner was made the official national anthem in 1931. Until that time Hail Columbia (now the entrance march for the vice president) was the unofficial anthem for the country. </td> </tr> <tr> <td> &nbsp; </td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top"> <a name="7"></a> <img height="27" src="../common/n7.gif" width="29" /> </td> <td style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 13px;"> <b>July Newsletter Challenge from SheriDawn:</b><br /> <br /> <img src="images/Layout-1_page_2.jpg" align="left" width="250" height="250" />I think that Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays. I love the heat, parades, BBQ s and fireworks. I love the looks on my boys faces as they watch the fireworks, and I have fun listening to them join in with their grandma s ooh s and ah s. Since it is July, I thought a patriotic themed challenge would be fun. So for the challenge I want you to use your scrappy supplies and StoryTellers kits to create something patriotic. This includes layouts (digital or paper), altered items, or decorations for your 4th of July party, pretty much anything you can come up with! <br /> <br /> When you re finished with your project, upload it to the <a href="http://forum.storytellersclub.com/gallery/index.php" target="_blank">StoryTellers gallery</a> and post a link to it in the <a href="http://forum.storytellersclub.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=11888" target="_blank">July Newsletter Challenge forum</a> to be entered into the contest.
