Monthly Tip of the Trade:
Have you tried sewing on your pages? It’s a technique that can give a page a lot of detail, and it’s really pretty easy to do. Hand sewing and machine sewing both can be a good way to add texture and visual interest. It can be done to the page itself in rows or even make a plaid pattern. You can also use fibers to sew a detail around a frame or embellishment. Straight stitching and looping around the edge are two different ways to accomplish this detail. The main lesson being—get creative and you’re bound to come up with something that’ll give your page some great details!

Creative Expressions Workshop:
Jaime has created some great projects with the October kit, all of which have the versatility to work with any of our themes. She’s created a darling fold out box that would make a great gift or keepsake. It would be a cute way to decorate treat bags, a sign for a treat bowl, or as part of a flower arrangement. The box gives you a fun and creative way to display and preserve your photos and memories with a little something extra that we’re sure you’ll love to try out.

Thanksgiving Thoughts:
Rather than doing trivia this month, we’ve found some great quotes about gratitude and Thanksgiving that will surely give reason to pause and help us all think of our blessings. (Not to mention some great journaling ideas you can include on your pages.) Wishing you all a very happy Thanksgiving filled with friends, family and good food!
"It is therefore recommended…for solemn thanksgiving and praise, that with one heart and one voice the good people may express the grateful feelings of their hearts and consecrate themselves to the service of their divine benefactor…" – Samuel Adams, father of the American Revolution on November 1, 1777 (adopted by the 13 states as the first official Thanksgiving Proclamation)
"One act of thanksgiving made when things go wrong is worth a thousand when things go well." – Anonymous
"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." – John Fitzgerald Kennedy
"Not what we say about our blessings, but how we use them, is the true measure of our thanksgiving." – WT Purkiser
"Let us remember that, as much has been given us, much will be expected from us, and that true homage comes from the heart as well as from the lips, and shows itself in deeds." – Theodore Roosevelt
"The Pilgrims made seven times more graves than huts. No Americans have been more impoverished than these who, nevertheless, set aside a day of thanksgiving." – H. U. Westermayer
"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity…. It turns problems into gifts, failures into success, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow." – Melodie Beattie
